Did you explore any of the area on your own?: Rental car. Big Island: Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls/Boiling Pots, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Volcanoes National Park.

O'ahu: Pearl Harbor (Arizona Memorial), Punchbowl National Cemetery, Diamond Head, Scenic drive up east coast, Waimea, Dole Plantation, Waikiki area, Royal Sunset Dinner Cruise, Pali Lookout, Shore Bird restaurant, Hard Rock Cafe, Fisherman's Wharf restaurant.

What is one thing that people traveling to this area MUST do?: Get a rental car and do everything on your own. It's all easy and you're not tied down to a tour.

Overall: 5. Great locations for hotels, nice weather, awesome scenery. We were able to be adventurous on our own.
